Website not working? Try adding more Trust Signals. Here’s how…

First, remember, the brain is not a thinking machine.

It’s a pattern-matching machine.

We don’t think to survive—too much effort, too slow!

We look for familiar patterns. So we don’t have to think.

When someone visits your website, they’re not thinking.

They’re looking for Trust Signals, so they don’t have to think.

(They’ve probably already judged you before reading a single word.)

Here are a few simple Trust Signals you can add to your website today:

Social Proof

  • Star ratings and Reviews (especially from third-party sources like Google or Facebook)

  • Testimonials (cut and paste a kind sentence from a client email onto your site)

  • Client logos (shows you’re already a trusted expert)

  • “As seen in” media logos (even small local press counts)

Credibility

  • Certifications or accreditations (e.g. “Certified X Practitioner”)

  • Awards or nominations (even “Finalist – Local Biz Awards” builds trust)

  • Professional affiliations (e.g. Member of industry orgs)

  • Years in business (“Helping families since 2012”)

Reassurance Elements

  • Money-back guarantee (or “satisfaction guaranteed”)

  • Clear contact info (real phone number, physical address)

  • Live chat or fast support response promises

  • Free trial or no-obligation quote offer

Micro Trust Signals

  • Clean and uncluttered design

  • Familiar logo

  • Professional domain name and email (avoid @gmail)

  • Recent blog posts (shows you’re active)

  • Real photos (of you, team, office—not stock photos)

  • Privacy assurance (e.g. “We’ll never spam you”)

E-commerce specific (if relevant)

  • Trust badges (Norton, SSL, etc.)

  • “X left in stock” or low-inventory indicators

  • “Buy now, pay later” options

  • Return/refund policies

You don’t need all of them. Work out what’s best for you.
